It’s not an exaggeration when I say that New York City has gone completely bonkers for ramps. In the days leading up to their first sighting in greenmarkets, the food community put themselves into a tizzy trying to figure out where to get them, where to eat them and how to savor every last-minute of the very short ramp season. So it’s almost fitting that the current rampsensation sweeping the city would bring about an event celebrating their awesomeness.
If ramp fever has overtaken your taste buds then don’t miss out on Hudson New York’s first annual Ramp Fest! Held on Saturday, April 30th from 1-5pm at Basilica Hudson in Hudson, NY (ya its a two-hour hike from New York but if you are a ramp freak…then methinks it won’t be an issue), Ramp Fest 2011 lets your ramp freak flag fly allowing you to get your ramp on.
As an abundant green in the Hudson Valley it’s no surprise that the festival would take place there. Chefs from upstate New York to New York City will prominently feature this pungent treat in a variety of creative ways for you to enjoy and savor. Participating restaurants include Fatty Crab/Fatty Cue, Swoon Kitchenbar, The Red Onion, Hundred Acres, Baba Louie’s, Fat Radish, Another Fork in the Road, Cook Shop and DA/BA.
Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for kids under 12 and can be purchased through brown paper tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/166511
