Smorgasburg, a food lovers extravaganza from the lovely folks who bring us The Brooklyn Flea, starts this Saturday, May 21st at their new Williamsburg site from 9am-5pm! Featuring more than 100 food vendors and 15-20 farmers showcasing and selling their goods, this new venture is a great addition to the food culture of Brooklyn!!! I don’t know about you but ever since they unveiled plans for the event last month, I have been counting down the days till its arrival!
Greenmarket farmers include Brooklyn Grange, Beth’s Farm Kitchen, Hudson Valley Duck, Jersey Farm, Hot Bread Kitchen, Ronnybrook Farm Dairy, Red Jacket Orchards and many many more! The list of food vendors was just made public yesterday (thank you New York Times) and while there are many vendors I am unfamiliar with, there are a few that I am already DYING to check out: Tin Mustard….my friends new mustard venture, Nana’s Frozen Chocolate Covered Bananas (a childhood love of mine), DOUGH’s delicious doughnuts, Granola Lab’s creative creations, Pie Birds whole wheat pies, Social Eats light caneles, and Kings County Jerky. I mean I could go on and on and on and on… because Smorgasburg literally has something for everybody!
Don’t worry folks, the regular Saturday Flea will still be going on at the Fort Greene location but if you want to focus just on food… head over to Smorgasburg! It is my intention to pop on over there right after I cross the finish line of the Brooklyn Half in Coney Island with my running buddies…hope to see you there!
