Recipe of the Week: Cranberry “Salsa!”

 This weeks recipe, a cranberry salsa, is an idea to take the plain and old cranberry sauce of our childhood and flip the switch! It’s a perfect condiment at your Thanksgiving dinner with just the right amount of sweet, sour and spicy and is seasonal, but definitely not for traditionalists! I’ve eaten this as a condiment on turkey sandwiches, as a salsa with tortilla chips, or spread on bread with cream cheese! Enjoy!!!



*makes 2 cups*

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries (one bag)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup combination of fresh orange and lime juice
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 jalapeno, diced (I used three jalapenos to really give it a kick but use what you want)
  • salt and pepper

To Make:

  • in large pot, bring cranberries, sugar and fruit juice to a boil
  • when cranberries pop, turn off heat and transfer to blender
  • add fresh cilantro and jalapenos and blend for 10 seconds
  • transfer to a bowl and season with salt and pepper
  • lasts for five days
  • Enjoy!
