While working at the Coop the other day I saw many mothers buying pre-packaged kale chips at $7 a container and thought I know I can make kale chips for much less and probably much better! Given that the things are probably coated with some sort of preservative and mass-produced, I purchased a bunch of kale and went to my pantry to look for a spice to add a flavorful dimension to it. The result of my $1.85 purchase is 4 CUPS OF KALE CHIPS! Sure some people purchase the already made chips out of convenience but this takes less than 20 minutes to make and is well worth the work! So next time you see an outrageous price for a food item, think if you can make it yourself and if so….DO IT!
*be aware….because these chips are so fresh they do not keep crispy for longer than a day! So make them and then eat them!
