Cochon 555, the traveling pork competition, kicks off their 5th anniversary with a bang this Sunday at Chelsea Piers!
It’s been awhile since my last Cochon event but the mission has not changed. Created to promote a national conversation around the sustainable farming of heritage-breed pigs, each event challenges five local chefs to prepare a menu from the entirety of one 200 pound family-raised heritage breed of pig, nose-to-tail.
Twenty judges (the best of the best in the culinary world) and the 400 guests will help decide the winning chef by voting on the “best bite of the day”. The winner will be crowned the Princess of Porc and will compete at Grand Cochon event at the Classic in Aspen in June!
New York’s 5 Chef, 5 Pig, and 5 Winemaker event will feature an all-female line-up for their first stop this year! Enjoy tasty treats from Leah Cohen of Pig and Khao, Elizabeth Falkner of Krescendo, Shanna Pacifico from Back Forty West, Missy Robbins of A Voce, and Alex Guarnaschelli of The Darby. The event also features The Meat Hook‘s Sara Bigelow and Sue Torres from Suenos and wine, bourbon, and a cheese bar too!
Tickets can be purchased here and range in price for $125 for general admission to $200 for VIP access!
