Nearly ten months ago I took a break from blogging because of a busy new job and returned two months later when I found I had more time. Well, once again I find myself taking a break as my job is making me a little too busy to keep up with this blogging train.
So, once again I bid adieu for who knows how long. It could be a few weeks, it could be a few months, it could be forever. I may post a few random recipes here and there, detail the next must attend food event, wax poetic on the last great restaurant I ate at, or tell you about a great new food deal. Who knows.
All I know is that I love my little blog that could but my paying day job comes first.

Every month Bobo Restaurant explores a different region of France and its unique cuisine with a 3-course prix fixe dinner for just $35 every Sunday night!
This month (August) they’re highlighting the southwest region of France known as the Pays Basque, French Basque Country or Northern Basque country! Each course features two options to choose from like duck minestrone, a braised chicken leg with red peppers and onions, a baked sea bass with chorizo crust, and a brown butter cake with fromage blanc sorbet!
Check their menu at the beginning of each month to see what region and dishes they’ll be serving!

For the second summer in a row…I’m headed to France for my August vacation (let’s hope this becomes an annual thing!). But unlike last year, when I went fancy and hit up St. Tropez, Provence and Cannes, I’m heading to the Aveyron region of Southern France (close to where Spain and France meet) to a small town called Najac with the boyfriend.
For the next eight days I’ll be off the grid (ok, not totally off the grid) forgoing blogging, checking my email ten times a day and tweeting/instagramming my life with food in NYC to relaxing and celebrating a friends 60th birthday and enjoying some much needed peace and quiet (the summer of weddings has been a doozy!).
Of course I’ll be documenting my journey as I did last year…. so stay tuned for an updated “France in Ten Bites” post. We were told that the town butcher is preparing a special feast for this party and there was talk of 180 magnums of rosé being ordered for this five-day party so I’m sure to come back with some good stories 🙂

For those not familiar with Cayuga Pure Organics, they are a small farm near Ithaca, New York that grows organic, non-GMO dry beans and grains,. On May 30, 2013, a devastating fire destroyed the barn that housed all of their cleaning and packaging equipment and a considerable amount of inventory. Please join Marlow & Sons this weekend in raising funds so Cayuga Pure Organics can rebuild!

It’s super easy… you can either plan a get together and tell them the name of the charity you’d like to designate as the evening’s beneficiary (and it won’t be just your tabs… but ALL bar tab totals for that night!) or put Pera Soho in touch with the organization and they can plan a more official event where they can coordinate on-site donations, a link on their website for donations and return guest initiatives (like 10% of bar or dinner tab within 30 days will be donated as well!)!

Earlier this summer, Luke’s Lobsters and No. 7 Sub combined food forces and opened a joint concession stand in the historic Smokestack Building under the Brooklyn Bridge! Open year-round (not just summer!), they’ll be serving up everyday favorites for park goers and those lucky enough to work nearby. But they also just announced that together they will be collaborating on a special sandwich every Thursday in conjunction with the Brooklyn Bridge Park outdoor summer movie series!
Each week, the movie being shown that night will inspire a different sandwich creation that will only be sold at the stand on the Pier 1 walkway! Last week it was a marinated shrimp, roast pork, broccoli, and sriracha mayo sandwich in honor of Enter the Dragon and this week they are screening Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory so stop by the No. 7/Luke’s Lobsters stand and chow down al fresco!
